The Supplier can be changed for Items with different manufacturers. This is an internal field only and is not visible by customers. When adding or editing an Item under Items > New Item/Edit Item, simply click "add/edit suppliers" to add or edit a Supplier by clicking on the appropriate tab as seen in the screenshots below:
